About the role
We need a Security Engineer to protect Rutylis and our community. You will harden our systems, build guardrails developers love, and stay ahead of evolving threats.
You will help protect the trust our candidates, customers, and team place in Rutylis. The work is practical and collaborative: instead of security as a blocker, we build guardrails, detection, response, and education that make safer choices easier for everyone.
In this Security Engineer role, you will have real ownership rather than a narrow task list. You will be expected to understand the problem, communicate trade-offs clearly, make good decisions with incomplete information, and follow through until the work is shipped, adopted, and improved.
This is a remote - global position designed for people who do excellent work without needing an office to do it. We value clear writing, reliable follow-through, inclusive collaboration, and the ability to work across time zones with context, trust, and respect.
What you'll do
- Harden applications and infrastructure and build developer-friendly guardrails
- Lead vulnerability management and threat detection
- Protect Rutylis, our data, and our community from evolving threats
- Identify, assess, and remediate risks across applications and infrastructure
- Build security tooling, automation, and guardrails developers actually use
- Lead detection, response, and post-incident learning
- Partner across teams to make secure the easy default
What we're looking for
- Solid grounding in application and/or cloud security fundamentals
- Experience with threat modeling, vulnerability management, or incident response
- Ability to balance risk, pragmatism, and developer velocity
- Clear communication of risk to technical and executive audiences
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications or notable security research
- Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR)
- Detection engineering or automation experience
