About the role
We need a Cloud Architect to design the cloud foundation Rutylis runs on. You will make the big architectural calls that keep us scalable, secure, and efficient.
You will build the foundation that lets every product team move quickly without sacrificing reliability, security, or cost discipline. The work is a blend of platform thinking, operational excellence, and pragmatic automation that removes friction for engineers across the company.
In this Cloud Architect role, you will have real ownership rather than a narrow task list. You will be expected to understand the problem, communicate trade-offs clearly, make good decisions with incomplete information, and follow through until the work is shipped, adopted, and improved.
This is a remote - us position designed for people who do excellent work without needing an office to do it. We value clear writing, reliable follow-through, inclusive collaboration, and the ability to work across time zones with context, trust, and respect.
What you'll do
- Design and evolve our cloud architecture for scale and resilience
- Set cloud standards and guide teams toward them
- Build and operate reliable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure
- Automate everything: CI/CD, provisioning, and self-service tooling for engineers
- Improve observability, reliability, and incident response across services
- Define and uphold infrastructure standards, security, and best practices
- Partner with product teams to make shipping fast and safe by default
What we're looking for
- Deep experience architecting on a major cloud provider
- A record of scaling cloud infrastructure for growing products
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and IaC (Terraform)
- Strong scripting and automation skills and a reliability mindset
- Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Calm, methodical approach to operations and incident response
Nice to have
- Experience scaling infrastructure for high-growth products
- Security or compliance background

Compensation & benefits
$200,000 – $275,000/yr — premium-band, reviewed twice a year.
